Region – Rwenzori

Community - Karambi

Processing Partner – Agri Evolve

In the lush foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains in western Uganda, smallholder farmers craft something truly special. Using the traditional Natural process, ripe coffee cherries are hand-harvested and sun-dried in the open mountain air before being hulled — a method that brings out bold fruit character and deep sweetness in every cup.

Big Dog Coffee partners with Agri Evolve, who source only the best local “Drugar” coffees (naturally processed Ugandan beans), paying farmers fairly and promptly. These coffees are then carefully cleaned and sorted at their modern Coffee Station to create Karambi — a coffee that celebrates the region’s hard work, community spirit, and vibrant flavour.

Named after the Karambi community at the southern end of the Rwenzoris, this coffee carries the story of reforestation, sustainable farming, and connection.

Expect a rounded, balanced cup with sweet notes of cherry, strawberry, and dark chocolate, lifted by a gentle acidity and smooth body. SCA score: 83.

Perfect as a single origin or as part of a blend when you want to add a hit of fruit-forward brightness and chocolatey depth

To ensure peak flavour and aroma, we roast in small batches multiple times per week at our local roastery. Every bag is shipped shortly after roasting, ensuring you receive it at the optimal point for degassing and brewing. We recommend resting your coffee for 5–7 days from the roast date to allow the flavours to fully develop before brewing.

Keep your coffee in its original valved bag, stored in a cool, dark, and dry place. Avoid the fridge or freezer, as moisture can damage the delicate oils and flavor profiles of the beans.
