High in the rugged mountains of Southeast Asia, Timor-Leste produces distinct, full-bodied coffees characterized by low acidity, herbal complexity, and a wild, earthy sweetness.

Regional Characteristics

  • Ermera: The most famous specialty region; known for high altitudes that produce clean, bright cups with notes of citrus and cocoa.
  • Maubisse: A high-altitude mountainous area yielding dense beans with a heavy body and savory, herbal undertones.
  • Eratoi: Situated at some of the highest altitudes in Timor-Leste, the Erato region is famous for its high-clarity cups featuring bright citrus acidity and a refined floral sweetness.

  • Processes: Primarily Washed and increasingly high-quality Naturals.
  • Common Varietals: Hibrido de Timor (the famous natural cross between Arabica and Robusta) and Typica.
