Timor-Leste, Eratoi
Origin: Timor-Leste
Region: Letefoho
Process: Washed
Varietal: Typica, Timor Hybrid
Altitude: 1800m
Producer: Pedro Simao de Deus
Tasting Notes
Caramel, Orange, Mango
This coffee is from the Eratoi community in Letefoho, Timor-Leste. This area is known for its high-quality washed coffees grown at high altitudes. Eratoi’s coffee forests sit about 1,800 meters above sea level. They spread across the slopes below Mount Ramelau, the country’s most sacred mountain. The cooler temperatures at this height mean the harvest starts a bit later. This gives cherries more time to ripen and develop flavour.
Produced by a community of around 40 smallholder farmers, this coffee reflects the strength of collective farming and careful stewardship of the land. The Eratoi growers are widely recognised for maintaining some of the healthiest and best-kept coffee forests in the region, resulting in consistent yields and improved livelihoods year on year.
Strong local leadership and a focus on professional agricultural practices have helped raise both quality and volume, long before wider rehabilitation programmes became common. The result is a fully washed coffee that’s clean, structured, and full of character — delivering bold, balanced flavours that shine in the cup and reflect the care taken at every stage of production.
A standout example of what Timor-Leste does best, and a coffee we’re proud to share at Big Dog.
